Our Curriculum
Rooted in the ancient Tanjavur style, we teach Bharatnatyam as a living dialogue between the physical and the spiritual. Our program is a holistic journey that meticulously balances technical rigor with emotive storytelling. Students develop profound discipline through structured adavus while exploring the nuanced bhava and raga that define this classical Indian art form.
The degree and diploma programs are offered year-round. Post-graduation program: Master's level (Alankar 1 &2) includes second margam and natuvangam training.

Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE FOR CLASSES?
We follow a traditional dress code to ensure discipline and ease of movement. Female students should wear a cotton practice saree or salwar kameez with leggings. Male students should wear comfortable kurta and pajamas. Long hair must be neatly tied in a bun or braid.
WHAT IS THE ATTENDANCE POLICY?
Consistent practice is vital for progress in Bharatnatyam. We require a minimum of 90% attendance to move to the next level. If a student misses a class, they are encouraged to attend a make-up session within the same month.
ARE THERE PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES?
Yes, Nrutya Garima provides multiple platforms for students to showcase their art. We particpate in community events, local temple hosted festivals for all levels, and senior students have the opportunity to perform their Arangetram (solo debut performance) upon reaching technical maturity and completing the Margam.
AT WHAT AGE CAN MY CHILD START?
We typically begin training children from the age of 5 or 6, when they have developed the physical coordination necessary for foundational stamps and mudras. We also offer adult beginner classes for those looking to start their dance journey later in life.
